Hydr’Avatar will address five key use cases, each with specific scientific questions and characteristics, including transboundary river management, flood and drought Early Warning System (EWS), hydraulic structures operation support, climate change and anthropic impact, and local flood impacts. These use cases emerged from iterations and discussions within the target stakeholder group. They will demonstrate the versatility and capacity of the modeling core, supported by Earth Observation (EO) datasets, to deliver crucial information about the hydrological cycle across various temporal and spatial scales.
All five use cases can be categorized under the scenarios of « what past, » « what next, » and « what if. » They will be deployed across different watersheds of varied sizes, climates, topographies, etc.
For each use case, a selection of models will be implemented or enhanced within this project, leveraging
- Earth Observation (EO) and in situ datasets,
- existing preliminary models,
- the modeling and data assimilation components available on the platform,
- the objective to meet identified requirements aligned with user needs.
